MedlockHarbison

Attorney

If you asked anyone who’s worked alongside Medlock Harbison, they’d tell you he’s at his best in the middle of a challenge – whether it’s untangling a complex business dispute or standing in front of a jury. Calm under pressure and exceptionally thorough, Medlock has built a reputation as a steady, strategic advocate for his clients in civil litigation and trial practice.

Education

Born and raised in New Orleans, Medlock’s path to the law began with a deep curiosity about how systems of power and accountability work – and how they can work better. That drive led him to earn his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, cum laude, from Louisiana State University in 2006, and his Juris Doctor from Tulane University School of Law in 2009. While at Tulane, he served as a Senior Justice on the Moot Court Board, represented the law school in both Mock Trial and Alternative Dispute Resolution competitions, and sat on the Honor Board. He also externed for the Honorable Judge Kurt Englehardt of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana and clerked at both the Orleans and Jefferson Parish District Attorneys’ Offices.

Experience

Medlock’s early career took him beyond Louisiana. Before law school, he worked as a Portfolio Manager for an independent asset management company in San Francisco and as an aide in Washington, D.C. to the U.S. Senate Subcommittee on Financial Management, Budget, & International Security, as well as to two former United States Senators. Those experiences sharpened his understanding of finance, regulation, and government – skills that continue to inform his work today.

In the aftermath of the BP Oil Spill, Medlock helped individuals, small businesses, and major corporations recover tens of millions of dollars in economic losses. That work solidified his passion for civil litigation and the belief that the law, when practiced well, can be a powerful equalizer.

In 2025, Medlock was appointed by Speaker of the House Philip DeVillier to the Louisiana Public Oversight Board, a role that reflects his ongoing commitment to efficiency in governance.

Outside the office, Medlock enjoys time with his wife, Sarah, and their family – traveling, hunting, and fishing.  Friends joke that he’s never met a deal he didn’t like, and his appreciation for a good bargain is matched only by his appreciation for a good day outdoors.
